Instrument Making
I've been making my instruments for over 45 years from carefully selected, naturally dried and aged wood. I also make custom instruments on demand.
I prefer making instruments specifically for order, so I can take all the requests of the customer into consideration, and make the instrument they wish for, both in form and in sound.
Instrumental music inspired me to make not only violins, violas, cellos and double basses, but also guitars. I made my first violin in 1980. At first I was making my violins after Stradivari’s models, but lately I prefer building after Guarneri’s models. I do not make copies, my instruments are all made in classical style, which is signed by the „ad formam” text on the labels. The labels in my instruments have a No. Number, and an opus number, the year in which it was made, and which model it was made after.

I make my cellos after Domenico Montagnana’s Sleeping Beauty model.
I came up with my own double bass model after I got inspired by the Pöllmann manufactury’s models in 1995. Since then I made 11 of them, 3 of which are currently in Finland (one of them is a 5 string double bass). I also made a 5 string „busetto” variant.
I built 3 F-style mandolins, a fully custom acoustic bass guitar for order, which also had a 5 string version, but I also made electric double basses and some guitars over the years. I like experimenting and coming up with my own custom models.
